By intensive sequencing of genomic regions including barley expressed genes, genes related to the stress tolerance stabilizing crop production and key genes regulating brewing traits are analyzed.
| ◆Program for Promotion of Basic Research Activities for Innovative Biosciences(PROBRAIN) ◆Leader: Kazuhiro Sato ◆Period: 2006-2010 |
Conversion of light energy into redox energy is a key process in photosynthesis. We study molecular mechanism of the dynamic feature of the energy conversion apparatuses using a model organism Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

To develop new methods to increase reproductive performance in domestic animals, we study local factors involved in ovarian and uterine physiology. we recentry found that TNFa is applicable for controlling reproductive cycle.

The control of crop diseases is extremely important to prevent a loss of crop production. In this project, we identify virulence factors in phytopathogenic bacteria and the structure of molecules which efficiently induce the resistance of the crops.

◆Program for Promotion of Basic Research Activities for Innovative Bioscience (PROBRAIN) ◆Leader: Yuki Ichinose ◆Period: 2007-2012 |
Silicon is a beneficial element for plant growth. It helps plants to overcome multiple stresses including biotic and abiotic stresses. In this project, we are trying to identify genes related to Si uptake and accumulation in plants.
|
◆Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (MEXT) ◆Leader:Jian Feng Ma ◆Project Period: 2005-2009 |
Living organisms maintain their biological systems by perpetual destruction and reconstruction of molecules, tissue and organ structures. We study molecular and cellular mechanism of the timely- and spatially-regulated mechanism of destruction and reconstruction in biological systems.
